Hi, Tolkien fans!

Now that the crazy Bingo-induced haze of March is behind us (seriously, go check out the B2MeM collection, it has been a spectacular month for our fandom), we are back to confirm the dates for the 2019 Tolkien Reverse Summer Bang.

Both of the mods have had a lot of IRL stuff going on lately so, apologies, but we're not quite ready with the updated rule set yet. However, the basics are the same as last year – artists submit Tolkien-based fanart, writers claim, then collaborate with their artist throughout the summer to create a story of 5k+ words based on the art prompt they claimed.

We promise we will have an updated rule set available for you to review ahead of signups opening on the 22^nd, but in the meantime, spread the word, start planning, and get excited!

Mods Raiyana and Narya

April 22 – Sign-ups open

May 12 – Artist sign-ups close

May 17 – Art Draft due

May 19, 00:00 CET – Art Drafts open for previews to signed-up Authors

May 25 – Author sign-ups close

Monday, May 27, 20:00 CET – Claims open [What time is that for me?]

June 2 – Post-Claim Check In – This is to ensure that our collaborators have got in touch with each other

July 7 – Check in. We will be asking how your collaboration is progressing

July 28 – Check in (authors should be roughly halfway through writing fics by now)

August 4 – Art due; final version of the art must be provided to the Author.

August 11 – Deadline to abandon your fic to a pinch hitter AND final check in. We will ask:

- Whether you have discussed posting logistics with your artist (if you’re embedding art in your AO3 story, for example)
- Whether the banner for your Community MasterPost is complete
- Whether you have specific posting needs re publicizing date/time frame

August 25 – Fics due in AO3 collection (unless you’re writing a last minute pinch hit, in which case we can be a little more flexible)

September 1 – Collection reveals; staggered Tumblr reblogs begin.
