WELCOME TO THE TRSB 2020 SUMMER SHOWCASE!
TODAY WE BRING YOU A LOVELY TRSB WRITER:
BODYSNATCH3R
On AO3 and @bodysnatch3r on tumblr!
I’ve been in fandom, one way or another, since I was ten, and I was engaging in fandom activities like fanfiction and pen and paper roleplay even before that. Since then, I’ve written thousands of words of fanfiction, dabbled in fanart, made graphics and gifsets. Outside of fandom, my main research focuses on contemporary and modern reception of ancient literature, amongst other things. I once floored a professor arguing that fandom is just reception studies for material that hasn’t been “canonised” yet, and I still stand by my stance.
This fic, a modern adaptation of the Hobbit into a heist/crime story (think BBC Sherlock vs ACD’s books), started originally as a fun experiment based on this gifset on tumblr, and has since then evolved into a multi-fic monster. I’ve been working on it on and off for the past seven years. While the Hobbit is the only “canonical” Tolkien text I’ve adapted so far, there’s plenty of additional stories I’ve already published, and I have plans on eventually adapting the Silmarillion and the Lord of the Rings too. You can find the whole AO3 series here, and the dedicated tumblr blog here.

Warning for: canonical character death, violence, self-harm, mental health issues, addiction mention.
Top creative tips/words of wisdom for fellow participants: Creativity ebbs and flows. I’ve found the times I’ve come down with writer’s block, it’s just my brain telling me to focus on something else for a little while – maybe do more planning, or edit a previous draft, or change subject entirely for a bit. No matter how long it lasts, it is the perfect excuse for you to learn to treat yourself, and your art, with more kindness and patience!
